We study the microevolution of mammalian species using evolutionary genomics as the main tool. Our current research is focused on the drivers of genetic diversification among populations and incipient speciation in mammalian species, the evolutionary response of mammalian populations to environmental change, the causes and consequences of inter-specific hybridisation, the evolution of mammalian phenotypic traits and their underlying functional genetic variation, and the effect of recurrent infectious diseases on the genome evolution.
We are based at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Gdansk. The group currently receives funding from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and the Polish National Science Centre (NCN).
